I had though I would go downtown for a 4-hour workday today, but yesterday I was really not very well, with lots of dizzy spells and many naps. So, today I worked at home again. I’ll try to get to the National Gallery on Thursday. I got a call from a fellow-customer at Johns Hopkins, who had just gotten the all-clear from his PET scan! really wonderful to hear!

I’m so glad you decided to listen to your body and stay at home!
Oh yes, had to write again after Yvonne’s note. Do you remember our Mothers sitting around the table ordering seeds like Yvonne said? That was exactly what came to my mind as I wrote last night. Aunt Julie always had more brussel sprouts, broccoli, and all that other”good for you but you won’t catch me eating it” kinds of vegetables. My mom had such resistance from we kids, it was your basic tomato, corn and green bean order. Wouldn’t you love to have some of those late night conversations on tape now???Love, Kathleen
Of course I remember those long evenings of seed ordering…having so many people in the house was always exciting, and the women always seemed so animated to me. I think I was the only one in the family besides Mom who actually liked brussels sprouts–she quit ordering them after a while. I still love them, and was really happy to find out that they are “petit chou” in French and considered quite a delicacy.
Brussel sprouts – ew! I was one of the family members complaining about them:). But the moms sure made the seed ordering night a party!
What a happy coincidence — I just made Brussel sprouts tonight (I am firmly in the “love” category). My favorite recipe that even Brussel sprouts “haters” seem to like is here:

I LOVED it when it was at our house!
