Cathy pigged out!

Posted on January 25, 2010 at 8:50 am

Well, at least for Cathy… She ate a normal selection of food on her anniversary – pork, salad, mashed potatoes, and a soft cake. Probably not a normal portion and probably could not taste it correctly, but she did have a nice dinner, even though she is still very, very tired.

Little by little, she is recovering.

Progress in swallowing!

Posted on January 3, 2010 at 2:04 pm

For the last 2 days, Cathy has managed to drink 2 milk shakes made from instant breakfasts, ice cream, and whey products, each day. So this is helping her whole system to start working again.

I started to post, “Cathy pooped!” but I figured they would kill me. So I didn’t do that.   (sneaky….)

The ice cream bit back…

Posted on December 31, 2009 at 5:15 pm

Beth has told me that Cathy had a very difficult time after trying to eat. Her system seems to need to relearn how to taste, swallow, and process solid food again.

It’s New Year’s Eve and it’s good to remind ourselves that all the struggling and suffering they have gone through this half of the year has been worth it, because in the end, Cathy will be well and strong again.

So thank God for the ability to have these treatments and thank God for the love shared between these two women and between all the others – it is what makes it all worth it. Have a much better year, Cathy and Beth. We all love you.

Happy New Year to all!!

Update from Beth at Hopkins this afternoon

Posted on December 15, 2009 at 3:23 pm

Cathy is having the final chemo – she was not anemic, but just plain old exhausted from it all. She will be coming home later this afternoon to begin recovery. The nurse told Beth that is will be several (4-6) weeks before Cathy will be able to eat normally.

Chemo #5 today

Posted on December 8, 2009 at 11:05 am

Although the radiation is done, and we could not be more delighted, remember there are 2 more chemo-therapies to go before the end. So, let’s keep our prayers, hopes, and mojos going!

I know it’s blurry,  or maybe it’s just that the tears in our eyes make it seem so…

Note from Beth this morning. She gets the last treatment today at 3:00 so I guess we should all ring our little virtual bells at 3:30!

Let’s hear it for the boys!

Posted on December 1, 2009 at 11:15 pm

Okay, I will admit that we have been a bit “Amazonian Warrior” here on this blog “stong females, etc.” but let’s take some time to recognise the contributions of the “weaker gender  ;o) ” I have tried to identify the males who have posted here, or just stood silently beside. The guys usually have such a hard time with these sorts of things, especially given the estrogen power on this list, but lord, where would we be without them?

Please, if I did not interpret someone’s gender correctly by their name or left someone off, please post for him. These are the guys (I think) I found within the postings:

Luke, Mike M., Eric (Bozo), Denny, Max, Liz’s Gary, Moyne, Joey (Dogpatch Manor), Lutricia’s Dave, Charly Dog, Yvonne’s Gary, Rev. Bob Smith, Doug & Julien, Tom and Simon, Gary & Brad; John Dull, Arthur Thorne, Ann’s Nick, Neil Metzger, Shrek, Bart, Jasper & Otto, Klondike (M or F?), John (delivered Cathy’s paper), Lorne, Philippe de Croy (he would have been here!), Nico, Michael Langley, The ambulance EMT, the helicopter pilot, and others I don’t know for sure.

Thank you Gentlemen!

Let us remember, “Men hold up half of the sky.”
